Marc Anderson and Hiring Advice

Marc Anderson  has some great advice for the hiring process and the types of people we should hire.  Marc writes about three criteria that go into recruiting good people...drive, curiosity and ethics.   He weights these criteria above intelligence which he states is over rated.

The hiring process should include a set of questions prepared prior to the interview, check references and fire mistakes.

The interview and hiring process is one of the toughest things I do in running a marketing department.  Mistakes are costly and difficult to avoid.  The idea of having a standard set of questions that are optimized over time by the team is a great suggestion.  Questions should be specific to the position. In marketing a person should be asked to whiteboard a  launch for new product.  All great ideas I'm going to use.
